One Members Opinion About The "70" 2008 Trucks

Well, that completes the series. What a great year of collecting it has been. It has been full of shocks, surprises, anger, and joy. Here are my memories of the 08/07 collecting year...

I remember when we all found out that there was going to be 70, yes 70 new trucks! All the excitement that was evident throughout the forum, and then the big news broke. HW had switched to plastic frames. The emotions expressed can only be compared to when they switched to the larger wheels. Mixed opinions emerged from that fiasco, but life as Monster Jam collectors moved on.

The sting from the chassis switch got a little less painful with the debut of some long awaited trucks. Trucks like Capitan's Curse, the new Spectra Flames series, Wrecking Crew, and Iron Warrior. To me it seemed like the HW monster jam's were as popular as ever! And the explosion of great new trucks didn't stop with the 1:64 scale, the 1:24 and rev tredz were all great as well!

The year progressed and we had a few more new trucks here and there, but the re-releases started to take over, as we all expected would happen. But, almost like HW heard our cries, more new trucks were on the way. Black Stallion, El Matador, Maniac, Obsession, Stone Crusher and Tropical Thunder made there way onto the scene and energized the community once again for the final stretch of trucks.

Of course, the year once again had its disappointments. It didn't look like Air Force, Safe Auto, or Escalde was going to be made yet again. And trucks like War Wizard and Jurassic Attack, that we all experted to sport there new paint, still had the old ones! but hey, thats life as collector I suppose.

Today, we have our final trucks, Wild Hair and Donkey Kong. Rumors have been flying around for months that HW will come out with a series 2 like they did in 2004. No one can say for sure it will happen, but with the popularity of this die casts I can't see HW not doing so.

What will happen next? We'll all find out soon. Until then, I'll have to keep hunting for the trucks I still don't have!

Its been fun everyone!

This post is the opinion of "The Collector" and his opinion only. MTC.com thought that this was a well written post and it should posted on the front page for all to see and read

Site, Forum and Gallery Overhaul

We are currently overhauling the entire website. At this time, I do not have a definate for when the site will be up. There will be some new features and new looks coming soon.

In order to keep all of the lists, forums and pictures, it is taking us a bit longer than expected. We are doing everything we can to get the site up and running.

Because this site has not been properly maintained, the script that we were using quit working after some recent updates to the code. We hope to remedy the situation soon and get the site back up and rolling.

Please stick around and we will try to update as soon as we know more.

SIR Owner Lagarde Announces Joint Associate Sponsor Program!!:

Sudden Impact Racing and Brandon Lagarde are proud to announce their latest contribution to the sport of monster truck racing. The Joint Associate Sponsorship Program (JASP) is a growing membership of monster truck teams that share a number of associate sponsorships and beneficial sub-programs that are designed to help member teams advance to higher levels in the sport.
JASP offers teams a way to benefit from lucrative sponsorships and sub-programs, in return for sporting sponsor logos on their trucks and contributing timely race and event updates and news. “It can be hard for a one or two truck team to successfully plead their case to a prospective sponsor,” said Brandon Lagarde. “Teams and companies with large fleets of trucks have a distinct advantage from an exposure and marketing point of view. What we are trying to do with JASP is coordinate with a number of smaller teams and form a partnership that will give us exposure and marketing leverage to provide a better proposal to offer potential sponsors.” JASP will essentially offer a sponsor the chance to appear on multiple trucks in multiple areas of the nation, without needing to have many different contracts and agreements in place. Lagarde added that “We feel confident that as more teams and sponsors join JASP, the more beneficial it will be for all parties involved. The sponsors will have great exposure on a number of carefully selected, high-quality monster trucks and the teams involved will reap the benefits of sponsorship money and/or products.” Teams currently involved in JASP include Bennett Clark’s Clydesdale team, and the Sturges Motorsports camp, as well as a hand-picked group of independent industry members.
